[No entry for Monday other above mention getting up at 9 am]
Tuesday morning Tom took us to town in the car and left us. We walked around, window shopped, ate at McDonalds’, and then rode the strassenbaugh home (trolly car). Also interesting you buy your ticket from a machine on the corner and yet no one ever asks for it or even asks to see it! But, Brenda said, if they ever do you’d better have one or it’s a stiff fine.
Kristopher goes to Kindergarden on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from two o’clock to 4:45 – so Tom, Morris and I walked him over. It started to rain on us so we had to run, even through its only about 3 blocks from here. He takes his own snack in his backpack everyday. Also when he arrives he changes from his street shoes to a pair of house shoes (slippers) – an Austrian custom. Quite cool today.
Wednesday it was warmer and Morris and I took Kristopher and Jeremy to play in the park (only one block away.) Afterwards walking home we stopped at a corner grocery store where they had fruit and vegetables on display outdoors and Jeremy wanted bananas so Kristopher took us in and said to the lady running the store (in German now) that this was his grandma and grandpa from American and we couldn’t speak German and that we wanted to buy some bananas! He did so good! The lady smiled and helped us pick out the money to pay here. These little corner grocery stores are no bigger that our bedroom, they are everywhere!
