I did get all your messages, I feel sure. There is no need to resend.
Best wishes with your new job. There is always a strain on first days or
weeks to me, until it's possible to settle in and learn not just the
"rules" but the unwritten rules. My internet service was "up" this
morning, but at first I thought they had done nothing to improve the
speed. I timed it and it took me 15 minutes (my whole break) to enter
HEM and get your message. I've been doing most of my work this morning
on the other computer, which actually has less memory than mine,
However, now I’ve switched back to mine and it IS working much faster.
Perhaps I tried it when everyone in the hospital was logging in, have to
confess I have some paranoia about e-mail. I've read so many stories
about organizations getting into employee's e-mail. When I send letters
from the library, I feel much freer writing than here. We have basically
been told that GW is "open to inspection," even though its password
protected, which is why I don't use it. Do you ever go into
DejaNews. I
have done so and found some incredibly intimate stuff. I found one story
about a male cop who was writing about recovering his memories of
childhood abuse. I can't print out the letters I send to you from HM for
some reason, so now I am forwarding them to my Yahoo account. I don't
know if it works to send a cc: to your own account; I guess I could try.
You indicated you probably would not be writing "every day" and that’s
understandable. There are days I can't write, but once or twice I've
written after quitting time. It's actually "stupid" to leave right at
4:30, because then I sit at the hospital exit light for 10 minutes. By
4:45 all that's cleared up, but on class nights I need to get out before
then.
Be appreciative of a controlled community. Montgomery has undergone, is
undergoing an ongoing demographic shift. Some people write of it as the
"white flight." The entire west end of town is shifting
demographically, and that is where all the gorgeous old homes and
magnificent trees are. With the shift, the houses get trimmed in garish
colors, furniture shows up on the porch, and that's it--more houses go
up for sale. My apt. is not glamorous, but I have an ideal location. I
am only five minutes from the interstate, but far away enough that I
don't hear the noise. The Alabama Public Library service five minutes
from the Auburn campus, and about 10 minutes from the law school. I have
about a 20 min. to 30 minute drive to work, but the drive is an
alternation of "clogged" then a period of 55, so its not too bad. But, I
don't have to get on the interstate to go to any of those places.
I had an attack of paranoia went I picked up my mail as I had a sealed
envelope from "Administration." You'll laugh, reading my e-mail." I was
pleased though as it was my new doctor have done quite a 'pit. made a
decision to "stay" with Baptist Health Campus and he mentioned the
service he had received from me as a "factor." So, the VP let me know.
That was nice. I have to go.
