Yes, it's the Boy Scouts motto.
I didn't hear the NPR discussion about Escher. Our NPR station only has
classical music in the morning. Actually they were playing some weepy
violin music so I turned it to the jazz station. Perhaps they will have
the dissuasion this afternoon as that's when they have the All Things
Considered.
I remember what spring break was like from those years in Gainesville.
It was kinda nice to have all the students away and for the town to be
quiet. Working at the OF it was nice for things really got slow which
provided time to catch up.
I started watching the X-files last night but was too tired to watch it
all and went to bed. All that camping with the scouts caught up with me.
I did record X-files as Julie was watching the Moyer's show so we will
watch X-files later. Julie said good things about the Moyer's show. She
has to deal with such people all the time in her line of work.
We have pansies planted in most of our flower beds right now. The
crocuses are all done, the daffodils are about half done and the tulips
just started blooming. It will be a mid to end of April before we plant
summer flowers and herbs. For herbs we usually will plant parsley, dill,
rosemary and cilantro. It's amazing what you can get in a few planters.
I'm planning to take out one of our flower beds next to the deck out
back and put in a small water/fish garden with waterfall. I really love
the sound of the falling water. I hope to have it done next month. About
four years ago I put in a big (12ft x 6ft) pond with 5ft high waterfall
for Julie's father and it turned out quite well.
Reston has a couple of the community garden plots but there is waiting
list to get a plot and you can wait for years.
Your really lucky to have hummingbirds. We put up a feeder but never got
any birds to come by. I talked to some people who say they do have them
up here but I never seen any here. My parents have dozens of them at
their summer home in North Carolina.
As far as fixing up an old house it is something I hope to do someday.
Our townhouse does not count as an "old house".
Good luck on your finals.
