Subject: Snow
I'm still fascinated about snow myself. We had a fairly heavy snow
here last year. Because it started in the afternoon it stayed on
the ground and was pretty for a while. It just did snow in N.
Alabama, but here, at least yesterday, it was back warm again. Two
people where killed in N. AL. Nothing else new. I had a
class last night I was a little scared about. It is the second
part of a two part course. I had the first part with a different
professor a year ago. She was so awful that I chose not to take
the second part with her. So, in addition to it being a year's
lapse, I have a different book and different professor.
However, I went up to talk to him after class and he was very helpful.
He said he had some handouts, and also that I could sit in on his review
sessions of his final from part one. Then, a student actually
volunteered to let me xerox her Part one notes. All in all, I felt
good about those boosts. The problem this term is I have three
classes, but unfortunately on top of that I have three classes I have to
be absolutely prepared for every night--they are "call on" classes as
opposed to "volunteer" classes. In "call on" classes, if you are
not prepared or don't answer adequately you lose 5 points or 1/2 letter
off your final grade. There is ONLY one final grade and that's the
final, so you would instantly move down to a 95, and could move lower.
That's the rough part of how law school is taught. In volunteer classes,
the prof asks for volunteers. If no one volunteers you can still
get called on, but you can say "no." (Its a little embarrassing, but I
don't have any problem with that). Otherwise (I'm sorry I talk so much
about law school)--I'm thinking about taking most of this next Monday
off. I'm going to have to break down and buy two books I thought I
could do without, but I need them for class and I can buy them Monday.
Also, one of the art lectures I registered for is on Monday--I used to
go at night, but can't now because of class, but I can go in the morning
instead. Then, there is an early showing of Civil Action at 12:45
which I think I'll go see. That works out well because the
bookstore opens at 8, the art lecture is 9-10 and then I can go to the
movie. I might come in work after the movie, if I get out in time
to make it worthwhile (a whole day away from this place, esp. a Monday
can create disaster).
Have you heard about
the
movie Pi--its actually the math pi. It opens this weekend at
the alternative theatre and is supposed to be quite unusual. I'm
going to try and work it in sometime. The movies only stay a week though
and I never feel like going on fri though, then on the weekend I have
too much work, and then I can't go during the week (I've missed alot of
movies at the alt. theatre because of that). I still want to see Enemy
of the State, but I think I'll have to see that on video. Movies,
unfortunately, have become such a luxury, simply because of time.
I still feel good. I walked after work and before class last
night. The apt. complex fixed the rest of my repairs, which is
pleasant. Enjoy your weekend. Did you sell your Casio
keyboard?
