Subject: Hiking
Do you happen to remember the brand of your hiking shoes? I've
read quite a bit on the internet. The main advice seems to be to
get the shoe that feels best on your feet, whether fabric or leather,
but if you get fabric you need to consider water proofing of some sort
and make sure it has the leather reinforcements which you mentioned.
There were several spots on the trail I did that were stream crossings,
but usually I could kind of hop around. I'd love to find something
in the 100 dollar DOWN range, which may be difficult if not impossible.
The selection in town is not very good at all as I think we only have
one store. Truthfully there were many points on the trail where I
would not have wanted to be on a bike, as it looked dangerous to me.
I was fascinated with the bikers, but hiking seemed fine. I tried
and tried to find a "trip" in the Sierra catalog that I could do in my
long (HA) two week break in August, but couldn't come up with much.
So many of the trips are in California, etc. or they didn't match my
schedule or budget, as Sierra trips unless you go on a work trip are
pricey. Also, I'm not fit enough for some of them. One said
"you must be able to step straight up the distance of two stairs lifting
your own weight and the weight of a moderately weighted backpack."
My first class last night sounded okay.
Its on business enterprises, which doesn't thrill me, but he said a lot
of students have said they have been surprised at how much money they
have made from writing up limited liability partnerships, etc. I
guess every time someone starts a small business enterprise there is
need for legal paperwork of sorts. I guess by the end of the
semester I'll know. Enjoy Boston. I hope you get to do some
neat stuff and not just be trained. Elizabeth
