Subject: Off to training
I've been rather busy the last couple of days and will be leaving
tonight to go to Boston for three days of training. The whole
training thing for this new project has been a real pain. The end
of last year ATF had bought two weeks of training for 20 people to be
done locally in DC but with the project being delayed it never happened.
To do the project we must have the training because we have never used
the product before. We finally got the ATF to agree to have the
local guys do a one day overview and then we go to Boston for a three
day course. This is a LOT less training the original two weeks but
it will have to do.
Sorry to hear about your air bed, sounds like it got a leak. I
always wondered how well they would "hold up" :). Of course that
puts you back into having to find a new bed. Oh, I did check and
the Brita does filter lead and, partially, some other metals but not
bacteria. Good hiking shoes are a must for the trails up here for
they are often quite rocky. We found some good ones for around
$55. They are not the old heavy leather type (for really serious
hiking) but they are part cloth and some leather. What was really nice
about them they fit more like tennis shoes and didn't need to be broken
in. They do have full ankle support, a must. We wore them
first on the Old Rag hike and they were great. I have kinda wanted
to some mountain biking or off road as there are some really good trails
up here for it. The ski slopes actually have trails in which you
take your bike up the ski lift and then do a downhill down the ski
slope. The mountain biking does take a lot of strength and can be
dangerous. I know one gut who broke both arms doing it. I
think I'll stick to the paved road and Rails to Trails kind of unpaved
trails. I did get out last weekend for my first ride this year, it
was around 72 degrees, sunny and just a great day for it. I only
did 18 miles and was a little sore that night. Well back to work,
I'll be out until next Monday. Larry
