Subject: Not Much
I've been pretty busy with not much time to write. Finals are
rapidly approaching. Once in a while a class, very rarely, will
have a project or a paper, and I have such a class now. The
project was 25 points out of the final grade. Usually the final is
ALL. So I had to get that done for Monday, as he only gave us one
week--far less than he had promised. I think I told you a while back
that Baptist bought several hospitals in the area when Columbia wanted
to sell them off. One in Selma has been bugging me about their
library. I really didn't want to take on the extra work, which is
what they wanted me to do--do their library work. Fortunately, in
a very timely fashion, I got an e-mail that the Nat. Lib. of Med. is
doing a "Library Improvement Program" in the S.E. and volunteering to
set up very small hospital libraries with a computer, internet access,
and training, etc. So I nominated Selma for the program. It
is hard to believe that any hospital doesn't have internet access, and
its especially hard to believe that Selma doesn't because they actually
have a resident training program there. There is no way this place
could function without internet access.
Otherwise, not much happening. The British writer I had started
reading, Minette Walters, very interestingly just published a new book,
which is proving fairly popular. I got hooked on her because PBS
did a mystery series based on her book "The Sculptress." What a
tragedy about "John John." It seems like the Kennedys have so much
tragedy, but on the other hand they do lead such very active, go getter
lives. You don't get killed piloting a private plane if you never
get out there and learn to fly.[1]
Elizabeth [1] John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr., often referred to as John-John or JFK Jr., was a son of John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States who died July 16, 1999 while piloting his private plane.
