I just finished ordering a zillion articles (or so it feels) on magnetic
resonance imaging of the breast and just for the heck of it checked my
e-mail again. I got curious what new game you got that is/was so
mesmerizing. I was trying to follow that Sokarov on-line world
chess game, but I've missed the past few moves. It was very
interesting, but for all I know it might have been won the last week,
because I haven't been in to check. I don't know if D.C. has this, but
in AL you can do a "legal separation." It is not just separating
like you are now, but legally so. The trouble is it can be as
costly as a divorce. There are some positive and negatives.
Spousal insurance coverage. can sometimes continue. That is a big plus.
In AL., it can change the inheritance, so neither spouse would inherit
from the other. Mostly its not a good thing except in a few
special circumstances, like medical care benefits etc. My
experience is that even when people "left me" they would still get
jealous or yanked out of shape about "others" coming over for dinner,
etc. Divorce in itself can be costly. If you do it, it also
might behoove you to be the first to file, since she moved out on you,
but I don't know D.C. law. We do not have "no fault" divorce here,
so the first to file gets to state the initial reason.
D.C. might have the mutual no fault divorce. You have to have a reason
in Alabama. Well, I think its too bad,if that happens--all those
years. I would be sick about it myself. To me, being
together when you are young is one thing, but having someone in your
middle and esp. later years may be even more important. I've never
really understood how people DECIDE not to have a relationship. To
me a relationship either happens, or it doesn't--its more a spontaneous
thing. But maybe "relationship" is just a code word for "sex." I don't
like being in a relationship where I want one thing and the other person
doesn't, for example if I don't have any interest in sex, but the other
person does,or vice versa. Oh well. The only relationship I
have is fantasizing about one of my law school instructors, but I think
he's only 30 something. Maybe at the most 40. Oh well, Liz
Taylor took up with a 20 year old when she was 60. Elizabeth
