Subject: Please Think
I read your last note really quickly late on Fri. and did not have time
to reply, but I really wanted to. I'm not playing lawyer right
now, just friend (?),and I don't have time to play with my words right
now, so please take this in your best interest and don't get offended.
If you think a divorce with Julie is in the works, you better not
aggravate her. Why? Property settlement, alimony, etc.
If in the period of separation you did not act in good faith (i.e.
seeing the yoga instructor, etc.), and if Julie feels like it and gets a
good lawyer, you are going to get really screwed.
I gather there is already a large (?) differential in your incomes.
In other words you better chill out on being so blatant about your dates
with the yoga instructor, until... Like I said, I don't know
whether D.C. is a no fault state or not, but if you start creating
"fault" or things Julie can pin on you, then you are screwing yourself.
It can be uglier than ugly. It is ugly. You probably need a
lawyer already. Didn't you say Julie's Dad gave you 10,000 for
your home. You can lose it. There is a joke in law school.
In criminal trials you have bad people acting as nice as they can.
In divorce trials you have good people acting as ugly as they can.
It seems rather ironic to me that it was because of Julie's father's
blind friend's need for a computer that you got linked up with the yoga
instructor. The twists and turns of life. Otherwise,
starting watching a sci fi alien invasion movie last night, but except
for a few parts it got really stupid (the one with Sheen in it on last
night.). Otherwise, I studied ALL weekend. It was so hot, I
didn't even go out at all. AT ALL. I finally had to have my
computer boot locked. Someone came in and loaded AOL and also
screwed up my computer. In the process, I did find that Information
Services is sort of monitoring the IP addresses in the hospital and
where they go on the internet. At first he told me my IP address
was one of the "hottest" ones in the hospital, then he corrected
himself, I think indicating the other one in the library is. By
hot he meant porn. I'm feeling "information deprived" when I go
home now on the weekends. A couple of times I have wanted to know
things, and unless they are in my library (which is rather vast) I've
gone without. May take the plunge and buy a new computer.

Probably good advice coming from someone in law school.
