I had a hard time in the video store as well. I realized I had
made a point of seeing what I wanted to see, and there wasn't much of
interest. Have you seen PI though? I started to get it.
Well--it turns out that the prof I have been e-mailing is apparently
engaged--of all things to the President of the University's daughter.
The person from whom I found that out, said "That's why he is moving up
so fast at the law school." I've thought myself he will be our
next Dean. Actually it was rather awkward finding this out--This
Sunday past I was out at a bagel place I go to every Sunday morning.
Usually I go early, between 8-9, but I had gone to vacuum by car and
when I got home I was dripping hot--I mean it was horrible. So I
showered and washed my hair, then went, so I wasn't there until almost
noon.
Well, he came in with TWO women. I saw him in line. If he
saw me he didn't say anything. He sat in a booth with one and
across from the other one. After they finished eating--I was busy
reading my paper--he put his arm around one of the women and they
actually started sort of cuddling in the booth--which is really sort of
aberrant behavior in a way--because you just don't see such behavior
around here that much, except maybe with teenagers. So anyway--I
didn't know whether to just EXIT or WHAT--at one point I KNEW perhaps
that he had seen me when he got up for refills. So, anyway, I put
my tray up, walked by his table, stopped briefly and just said, "Oh, Do
you like these Northern bagels." He acted surprised, made a brief
remark--was very friendly and actually started to stand up--as he is
such a gentleman--but I quickly said, "Good to see you" then left.
So I called a friend, and SHE had just heard the "news" herself that
weekend, that he was engaged. I really really like his "niceness."
He is just one of the nicest people I have ever met. It gets
really "complicated" around here. EVERYBODY is so Christian, and
church is a very big part of their lives. I don't attribute his
niceness to church, but I'm sure church is a big part of his life.
The university is actually a church school, you are supposed to go there
if you work there, so it makes sense for him to build a life with
another "churcher." I may always be alone--that is what I thought
afterwards, but then when I try to think of "living" with someone, I
can't even imagine it, at times. I think I want a "companion." I
even thought about him--probably 40 or almost, never married, maybe even
a virgin--and he's going to have a woman move in with him. He
looked really happy though.
Oh well. I saw him yesterday and he was really pleasant to me.
Yoga is a very good thing. I've started it so many times and let
it go. Now I am so inflexible. Well, got to go.
