Finally thought I'd have my car back, but really a pissy transaction.
Told me on the phone it would be 500.04--which I had ready by making a
transfer--when I got there they claimed it was almost 1000.00.
Like 999.00.
I complained and they brought it down to about 832.00. I got in
drove away and got less than 1/2 mile and the car died completely right
in the middle of one of the busiest intersections in Montgomery, right
at 5:00. Of course, the minute it died every type A personality
for miles behind me started slamming their horn. I managed to get
one little crank out of it and eased it into a tiny tiny strip of median
in the corner of a turn lane.
I called the car place and absolute cussed them out. I used the f
word quite a bit. Had to wait for almost an hour before the
wrecker came--of course they were closed by then, except they were
waiting for me. The minute the wrecker pulled up, the car place
guy said, "Take this car." I didn't pay any attention to what kind
it was. I was so angry I got in, not even knowing if I could drive
it, told a mechanic standing by, "Tell them I'm gone." If I
wouldn't have spent all my travelers checks making up for the difference
in the bill--I swear I'd drive to see you, or go to the Grand Canyon or
somewhere in THEIR car. I noticed they gave me very little gas
though. Its a Malibu--more lights and geegaws than I've ever seen.
I'm afraid I'll get a speeding ticket because it is so easy to be
zooming and not even know it. I am NOT answering my phone Saturday
(they’re supposed to fix my car then.) I've made up my mind I'm keeping
this car ALL weekend and driving it to work on Monday. If I didn't
have law school Monday night and Tuesday night I'd take off. How
are you? I think my blood pressure is sky high, but I'm trying to
calm down. Did I tell you I got "best paper" in one of my classes.
Even I will say that is quite an achievement. Its Friday
night--I'm on the town in my Malibu--actually I had to collect my mail
and get milk as I am totally out of groceries and everything.
