Subject: Boring Class
I just got out of the most boring class imaginable. The prof reads
the Code to us--the Code is just the law. We sit there and
underline. What a rip off. I can't wait until evaluation
time. I haven't been reading much "fun" stuff at all lately--but
finally got more into the Hannibal book. The first goodly number
of pages are very plodding. I was so surprised because I kept
reading reviews talking of how "literary" the book was. FINALLY,
the book did get literary. The scene changes to Florence and there
is a lot of literary type stuff--sort of intellectual. I may
actually finish it--although I think it is now overdue. I also
read a few pages in one of the Neal Stephenson books--like Snow Crash I
find it slow going because of all the cyber terms--the character in the
opening pages goes to get some type of implant upgraded. The book
is supposed to play heavily off nanotechnology, which you and I talked
about once. I'll try and think of the title and send it. I
know I bought two books by him--one is Zodiac and its the other one I'm
reading, but I can't recall the other. I got to thinking--I have
no plans for the Millenium. I feel I should make some.
One thing I've thought about doing is going to these Indian Mounds
outside of Tuscaloosa. Have you heard about these or the similar
ones--there are some in Georgia. The mound builder Indians built
these enormous above ground mounds, sort of like pyramids and there are
some outside of Tuscaloosa. They are so incredible--it is quite a
climb up them. I wonder if there will be a millenium celebration
there. I think it would be quite exciting to be on top of one of
the mounds as the millenium--or at least the year 2000 arrived.
Well--just out of class and thought I'd vent. YECH--I got a letter
from my physician. I couldn't figure out why--it was quite
fat--seems my cholesterol was up over last year--to borderline--so she
wants me to diet. Right now I'm starving as I ate cereal this
morning and soup for lunch. Thing is--I can't figure out why it is
creeping up--I only use skim milk, skim milk cheeses, and hardly eat
beef ever. Something must be doing it. Maybe too much
chicken, cheese and skim milk, as even low cholesterol things could add
up, and those three things I practically live on. Oh well--I need
to lose weight anyway--maybe this will be kick in the butt--a real
health issue. Elizabeth
