Elizabeth,
It was good to hear from you. I was thinking about you the other
day and also wondered how you were doing. I also will be having a
quiet Christmas and week. We had Monday off and of course
Christmas day but have to work the rest of the week. Yes, I'm
still at AOL. It's been 7 years now which is quite amazing
considering they have had layoffs every October since I've been there.
This year they laid off 2,000, 750 of which were at the main campus I
work at. Of the row of cubicles mine is on there were only 3 of us
left. AOL has a moratorium the week from Christmas to New Years in
which they don't allow anything changes to be made so most people take
vacation including my boss. I've used up all my vacation so I have
to "work" but I'll do so from home which all it really means is checking
my email a few times a day.
My big "project" while I'm home this week is to convert some records to
CD's. Some 20 years ago I bought the "One Hundred Greatest
Classical Recordings" from the Franklin Mint. Well its not easy to
listen to actual records any more so I bought a turntable that connects
to the computer so I can load them on the computer and then make CDs and
MP3's for my IPod. I just finished #4 so 96 more to go :)
Interesting you asked about my daughter. After 13 years she finally
got fed up enough with her boyfriend and dumped him two years ago.
She is now with a new guy which I actually like. I met him at
lunch with Anne a few weeks ago for the first time then this past
Saturday I met the two of them for dinner to celebrate Anne's and my
birthday. Then I went over to Anne's place last night and he made
dinner for the three of us and then we went to Anne's church for the
Christmas service.
Weather here has been mixed. We had about 3 inches of snow a couple
weeks ago and then a week of cloudy and rain. It's been sunny and
mild (for here) the past couple days.
Yes, I'm still very active in my yoga taking two classes and teaching
three. I taught five classes for a while but that was too much and
cut back to three. No big trip this year, just the yearly Mexico
last Feb. and a week in Maine. Last year I went to Bali for two
weeks and in Jan. '09 plan to go to Vietnam.
It is good to hear from you.
Larry
