RE: Breaking News

My group, AOL Internet Services had shrunk from around sixty employees to just a handful. The VP and my manager both left AOL and went to work for Nokia. At its peak our group had a dozen project managers and now it was down to just two, me and Scott. When I started at AOL, they had just finished the new CC3 building then quickly followed by CC4, CC5 and CC6 but by this time AOL and shrunk and they sold off CC3, 4, 5 and 6 and the hand full of us left in Internet Services moved to the CC2 building but it was like a ghost building with whole floors empty. With the almost daily layoffs I new I only had a limited time. As soon as the last of the Time-Warner systems were moved out of the AOL datacenters I knew I would be laid off.  My manager told me, “Don’t worry, you’re a valued employee, there will other work for you after Time-Warner is done.” I didn’t believe her at all and was seriously looking for a new job.
