Elizabeth,

Wow, I wasn’t expecting that. You and me.... the thought has crossed my mind in past years but I had put that away long ago. I am interested in what brought this on, why now?
 
I don't know about a "quest" for my ideal woman. Yes I have always wanted such a woman in my life. I keep looking on one hand but on the other I don't think I'll ever find such a woman. It may be because I she doesn't really exist, or perhaps my "ideal" is just to ideal or perhaps I don't know what I'm really looking for. True love, love at first sight, I always wanted to believe it would happen to me but as I get older I don't believe it really will. Funny, in 1975 when I met you at the bike rack before class and we sat next to each other I would have then believed it could have been you. But now, after the years, each of us going our separate ways, I don't think so.
 
I am seeing someone now. No, it's not true love, or even love but we like each other and seem to enjoy each other's company. We are comfortable together. Is that enough? I don't know but as I get older I find it does provide comfort to have such a person in my life.
 
As for you and I? No I can't rule it out but then can't see it happening either.
