Your Thoughts Are
Elizabeth,
I had watched season 1 and I think most of season 2 of The 100 but
got bored with it and didn’t watch season 3.
Yes, Parkinson’s runs on my mother’s side of the family. Her
mother and her mother’s sister and brother both died from it. No
my mom’s brother, who is just 5 years older than me, has it.
I’m not too worried about it as I think I have my more of my dad’s genes
or perhaps that is just wishful thinking. Being active can
really make a difference with Parkinson’s as Michael Fox’s story shows.
My mom basically didn’t do any activity so she quickly went downhill.
Yes, dad who turns 91 in August still drives and lives alone.
I sometimes worry about his driving but he doesn’t drive much.
If he want to go anywhere my brother or sister drive him. Dad had
kidney failure as a result of some modification he took for many years
and now he does dialysis three days a week. Even with that he does
really well. A lot of it is the will to live. At his 90th
birthday party last year he said he hopes to live longer than his mother
who lived to be 103.
The house I am looking to build in Gainesville has a very small yard
which I expect I can mow with an electric mower in like 20 minutes.
Speaking of electric, I bought an BMW I3 electric car 2 years ago.
I love it. I drive my SUV only on trips now. I think I put
like only 800 miles on the SUV last year.
There are a number of hobbies I do now that I will continue to do.
I have a pretty extensive wood working shop and build furniture so it
will be really nice to have a 2 car garage that I can spend more time
doing it. There also is my genealogy work on the
Mixon/Mixson family which I spend a lot of time on. I often had 1
or two persons contact me each month who find my web site and want more
information or provide more details. I also like to build models.
I but a very detail model of the Sprit of St. Louis. I actually
went down to the Smithsonian and took pictures of the real thing to
build it.
Last year a built a 2ft model of the boat that was in the movie On
Golden Pond. It is radio controlled. I also have taken up
paddle boarding after my brother got me into it. I bought a piano
a few years ago and took lessons for a while but didn’t have time for
it, hope to again when I retire. I still do a fair amount of biking. Of
course there is yoga. These are just a few of the things, I got
quite list.
As for traveling, I will probably continue to yoga vacations every other
year or so when I find one that is going to some interesting place.
There also is much of the U.S. I haven’t seen. My parents had a
mobile home for many years and traveled in it. I don’t like the
idea of driving big mobile home so I been seriously looking at
small camping trailers. My older sister and her husband are
planning to get one this year so when I retire we can travel around
together.
I have been doing the Blue Apron food delivery service about 6 months
now. I find I eat much healthier and waste less. It is
really nice that I don’t have to plan meals and then go out and buy all
the ingredients. Buying for one is a problem that you often have
to buy more than you need and end up throwing some out. Or I would
make a big batch of something and eat it for a week. With
Blue Apron you get just what you need. I get 3 meals for 2 persons
a week so it makes 6 meals for me. Often I find that a meal makes
enough for 3 so I get 2 meals and a lunch out of it. The
food is really fresh and high quality. They make meals for what is
in season which this past winter I was really getting tired of kale.
With spring here and summer coming should have a lot more variety.
Tonight is Shrimp & Squid Ink Spaghetti.
