Larry,
Congratulations!
The glacier walk seems to be a popular thing to do (Athabascar?)--see it
before global warming melts it--and the gondola ride. Also, there
are some Lake cruises and a river rafting opportunity. Jasper,
just north of Banff, is a designated "dark sky area," and the beauty of
the night skies and how much of the Milky Way you can see, have
apparently brought some people to tears, who have only lived in cities.
It is a bit early, because the best season doesn't start until late
September/October, but if you have clear skies there's a chance you
might see the Northern Lights if you're up late, even in Banff, but more
so in Jasper. IF your phone works in Canada (I found out mine won't),
you can apparently set up a text alert which will let you know of any
activity.
I had my second serving of Blue Apron catfish tonight, reheated in the
toaster oven. I think it was even better the second go round.
Tomorrow I'll grill the steak outside on my little camper stove.
My exhaust fan in my kitchen sucks (or more accurately doesn't suck
enough) so I'll take the skillet grilled steak fumes outside!
Instead of making their crispy rice, I'll use the rice and the currants,
butter, and almonds, from another recipe to make pilaf.
I'm having a bit of an arthritis flare, so although I hate to take it, I
took an Aleve after running some errands, sat up in bed to read my
mystery novel, and promptly ended up taking a long map. I woke up
and thought of you doing energetic things like kayaking this weekend and
doing yoga, but oh well--it was also an unpleasantly hot day.
