Sketch for paintingInitial drawing for painting

Over the summer I painted my second painting.  I had enjoyed painting my first painting but had used most of the finger sized tubes of paint, so I went to the Campus Book Store at the University and bought a few more tubes of paint.  I had made a sketch of what I wanted to paint then proceeded to paint an abstraction with geometrical figures, a chess board with cubes on one side and spheres on the other.   My brother and I had played chess since we first learned how to play and for a while did chess by mail and so I titled the painting “Your Move” and gave the painting to David.  Forty years later David loaned it back to me when he was living temporarily with Dad and it now hangs in my house.
