A Wedding

After the season at Mt. LeConte was over, my brother David got married in Troy, Michigan where his wife was from.  It was a total surprise to me, I didn’t even know he had a girlfriend.  As it turned out David met her at Mt. LeConte where she also was one of the lodge staff. The reason for the sudden wedding would come out a few months later.

A Birthday

A few days before my thirtieth birthday, much to my surprise, I received a birthday card from Dad, I think it was the only time I ever got a birthday card from Dad as Mom most always sent and signed for both her and Dad on the cards sent to me.  Dad’s card was one of the new “music cards” popular cards that had just come out at the time that when you open it up it played music, in this case the Happy Birthday song.  Dad was never much of a singer, he never sang in church and I actually never recall him singing. If I looked close perhaps I might have seen his lips slightly moving during a song at church, but with no sound.

 

Christmas
