In May I received my BS degree in Computer Science. Back in January I received an “intent to graduate letter” from the University of Central Florida, all I needed to do was complete the last course I was enrolled in for the spring quarter, Computational Techniques. I actually thought I needed a couple more courses but when I went to see the advisor, she reviewed everything and it turned out it was the final course I needed, and it actually it wasn’t because I needed another computer course, but rather I needed to the additional hours to meet the minimum number of course hours taken to get a degree at UCF. With all my credit transfers from University of Florida and the courses I took at BCC, I completed all the general requirements, the Computer Science base requirements, and the requirements for a specialization in Programming and Systems but I still needed additional hours specifically taken at UCF and this final course satisfied that final requirement. A BS in Computer Science at UCF required 120 semester hours. In the end I, with all my transfers, courses that didn’t count, and extra courses to meet hours taken at UCF, I finished with a total of 155 Semester hours, 25 more than needed, with final GPA of 2.588. That may not sound all that good but my old courses from the University of Florida dragged it down, my GPA at UCF was 3.125 and at BCC was 4.0. It took me 17 years, but I finally received a BS in Computer Science.
Mom and Dad were quite proud of me.
