In September I drove up to Gainesville again for Grandma Junior’s 75th birthday party and a family reunion which was at Uncle Gary and Diane’s log cabin house on 10th Avenue. Even though it was Labor Day weekend and Monday was a holiday, Julie and Anne didn’t go with me as school had just started for both Julie, who was still working on a business degree at UCF, and Anne who started first grade. I was beginning to think that Julie didn’t like visiting my family, mostly because she didn’t feel welcomed by Mom. Well, that and a few snide comments about Julie that Aunt Dixie made. I didn’t think much of it as Aunt Dixie was known for speaking her mind, but Julie didn’t like it.

collected chess sets and had one setup on a chess table which I would
come to own many years later
