Sold!

Our house on Tallpine Road in Melburne, Florida

In February 1992 we sold our house in Florida for $84,000, after the loan of $65,260 was paid, $18,740 remained. After the realtor fees and closing costs, we ended up with $10,046, about the same amount we had put down on the house when we bought it back in ‘85. It was disappointing, but at least selling it freed up our limited funds and allowed us to start looking for a house in Reston to buy.  We really liked the townhouse we were living in on Lake Audubon, and we asked the owner if they would be interested in selling it to us, but they said no.  I doubt we could have afforded it anyway with house prices in Reston considerably higher than Florida, I was discouraged about finding anything.
