Survivor
In May the first season of the Survivor TV show aired and I loved it. Sixteen players divided into two teams were placed on an island in Malaysia in which the two “tribes” compete against each other in various challenges and then the losing team has to vote a member of their team off the island. When half the people are voted off the two teams merge into one team and then compete against each other until there is only one left, the “Sole Survivor” and wins a million dollars.
I liked it so much that I applied for the second season which was in the Australian Outback. Along with the application you had to send in a three-minute video on VHS tape. This was before cell phones had cameras and I didn’t have a video camera so I had a friend who had one come over and make a video of me. Being upside down “down under” in Australia, part of my video was doing a head stand. I did not make the show which I was actually glad for because the conditions in the Outback were terrible and the competitors suffered. I have watched all 45 seasons since the first show.
