Nehum Mixon, s. of William and Christenah Mixon, was b. in Darlington District, SC ca. 1804, d. Dec 12, 1837 in TX. On Jan 8, 1826 he m. Sarah Coffey in Montgomery County, AL, but settled in Marengo County, AL, where they are shown in the 1830 census. He received two land grants in 1831 totaling 154 acres, located in Wilcox County. The time of their migration to TX is unknown, but he was given a land grant there in 1862, and another (to his heirs) Apr 4, 1872. (The 1830 census of Wilcox County, AL, showed the couple with one daughter under age 5).

Note: Noel Mixon, age 57, and Sarah Mixon, age 55, are shown in Harris County, TX census of 1850.

James Mixon, s. of C. Micah and Mary McClendon Mixon was b. in SC. probably near Bishopville, Sumter County (now Lee County), ca. 1815, was with his parents in Barbour County, AL, before 1840 and shown there in that census. On Jan 9, 1842, he was granted marriage license in Barbour County to marry Nancy Jourdan. The family was in AL in 1850, but not yet found, however, in 1860 they, were in Jasper County, Mississippi, his age was 44, Nancy 32. Their five oldest children were born in AL, the last five were born in MS (shown by census and family records). The family is shown in Columbia County, AR, in 1880. It is thought that James died about 1895 and his wife, Nancy, died about 1903, both buried in Atlanta, AR, cemetery.
