Abraham Mixson, (in deed records of Barnwell County, SC, he is probably the Abraham referred to as "Abraham, Jr.", or "Abraham, the younger", s. of Michael Mixson and wife, was b. in SC, 1774, d. in Jackson County, MS, after 1850.

 

One Abraham Mixson had land grant for 44 acres in Beaufort District, SC, Dec 2, 1816. However, in 1810, this Abraham Mixon was in Tattnall County, GA, as he was shown as a juror that year. Three land grants were given him in 1818, totaling 538 acres. He m. Elizabeth Joyce, b. 1776, d. 1850, dau. of William Joyce and wife, by or before 1800, and they had moved to Marion County, MS before 1820, as in that year he was named administrator of William Joyce estate.

Note: There were two Abraham Mixon’s in SC about this time, one the son of Michael and the other the son of John Mixon IV (see #704).  It is not clear as to which the 1810-1840 census records refer to.

Note: Below listed in the 1850 census under Abram’s household but unlikely to be daughters of Abraham and Elizabeth as Elizabeth would have been over 60 years old. Possibly granddaughters.

James Mixon, planter, Veteran of the War of 1812, s. of Michael Mixson, a Revolutionary soldier, was b. in SC in 1782, d. in Irwin County, GA, d. 1860. He m. (1) Mary Johns, b. 1816, d. 1860, SC.  James and Celice bur. Mixon Family Cemetery, Abbeville, Wilcox County, GA.

1860 Duval, FL, Charles Mixon age 23, Stephen Mixon age 22.

One source lists:  “Fell ill mid 1862 and furloughed 25 September 1862 from General Hospital # 12 Richmond, Virginia - He never returned and was dropped after February 1864 with the statement "died in Florida, no official notice given." A post war roster indicates that he was alive and living in Micanopy after the war.”
