Starting with Fortran
in 1969, I have programed in many different computer languages, many
for work, some for school and some for just personal computer
projects. After struggling a bit with at first, I found
I had a real knack for computer programming and was able to pick up
new languages quickly. You will find below the computer
languages I have programmed in and some of the stories about them.
2015 - PHP - I have done some limited programming in PHP for my website.
2000-2019 - HTML/CSS - HTML and CSS are not really computer languages per se, but I since the creation of my Mixsonian website have used both.
2005 - Java Script
2000 - Java
1996 - Visual Basic
1993 - C++
1987 - DEC Vax Assembly - I wrote a some assembly language on a Vax computer for a contract I had.
1987 - Ada (pseudo) - Fortran 77; I took a short few month contract with a Harris division what was working on a computer graphic system for displaying weather and radar images together. The contract called for using the new military language "Ada" but there were no Ada compliers at the time. As a compromise we designed the programs in a formal Ada pseudo language which we then coded in Fortran 77.
1986 - Pascal - I am not sure of the first time I programed in Pascal, it might have been in some computer class at the univeristy. I do remember it was the language I was programming in 1986. I had a contract to develop some code in the Pascal language and was working the Saturday, January 28, 1986 when the Challenger exploded.
1985 - C
1986 - HPL
1979 - MS Basic
1976-1988 - Early microprocessor Assembly Intel 8080/8086/80186/80286/80383; Motorola M6800
1976 - PDP-11 Assembly
1974-1976 - PL1, Data Genernal Nova Assembly
1972 - Cobol - I tool a computer class at the UF in which we had to write programs in various computer languages, one being Cobol. I am glad this was my only time with Cobol for I didn't like it much.
1971 - APL
1970-1971 - Darmouth Basic, IBM 360 Assembly
1969 - Fortran - My first computer experience
