Sunday, February 1, 1959

Got up too late to go to S.S. so we went out to Mixson’s and spent the day. Morris jumped out of a tree & hurt his ankle. Went by Betty & Billy’s & had supper with them. We decided to go to the Tampa fair next Sat.

Monday, February 2, 1959

Cloudy all day so I only washed blue jeans & then they didn’t get dry.  The kids & I took a long nap and I made a pie for supper.

Tuesday, February 3, 1959

Morris’s ankle is swollen & he can hardly walk. Went to the Dr. but couldn’t get in to see him. I made baked chicken & dressing for supper. Talked to Emma Lee & found out our S.S. teacher moved to Starke. I’m sorry we lost her. Mom was supposed to get some of her teeth pulled out this afternoon.

Didn’t do a thing today except iron & do a little housework. Took a nap all afternoon with the kids.

Thursday, February 5, 1959

Cleaned the house real good & did some washing. Wet over to see Melba this afternoon. Here baby is a doll. Reminds me so much of Brenda when she was a baby.

Friday, February 6, 1959

Went to down this morning & didn’t get home until one. Right after supper took the kids out to Mixson’s so they could take care of them while we went to the fair. Then we spent the night with Betty & Billy so we could get up early.

Saturday, February 7, 1959

Got up at 5 o’clock & left at 6.  Stopped at Ocala & had breakfast. Got to the fair in Tampa about 9. The crowd was terrible, but had a good time. Went to see the car races. Bought Brenda a Birthstone ring & the boys an identification bracelet. Got home from Mixsons about 9:15.

Sunday, February 8, 1959

Boy, I slept late again & didn’t get to S.S. Cannot do that again now. Morris went to work at the Chem. Dept. (semester starts in the morning) & it rained all day. I went to church tonight with Dotty Pearl, at the mission right down the street. Enjoyed it. They met in the house. About 30 were there.

Monday, February 9, 1959

Stayed home & cleaned & washed. Another nice day. Up in the 70’s. David played all morning with Sally, Rebecka & Sharon Fay. He likes to play dolls every once in a while, when there’s no boys around. When school is on all he has is girls to play with. He gets along real good with them. Very seldom they quarrel or fight.

Tuesday, February 10, 1959

85° today - What a beautiful day. Felt like I could wash all day. Washed 5 tubs of cloths, & all of Brenda’s sweaters. Went to the woods with Agnes (next door neighbor) & got some dirt & rocks to make a flower bed by the back door.

Wednesday, February 11, 1959

Cleaned house & ironed today. Had a man to come out & give us an estimate on the cost to jealousy in the front porch. Bart came by right after supper & we played canasta until 9 o’clock. Then Morris & I went to the show downtown. Saw “And Some Came Running” with Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin. It was real good. Got home about 11:30. Bart took care of the kids.

Thursday, February 12, 1959

Went to our WMU quarterly meeting at the church this morning. I waw on the welcoming committee & helped take up the offering. We had covered dish luncheon at noon. I left about 1:30. Picked up the kids from school & went to see Dot. They moved into their new home & it’s lovely. Another nice day. 82°. John has been sick again with his heart. Has been off work all week.

Friday, February 13, 1959

Went by Evelyn Alexander’s house this morning & visited with her. She really is a good Christian & believes just like I do. We’re got to get to know them better. Bought myself a cotton shirt and blouse. Brenda went to Sally McKay’s house for the afternoon. She’s been her best girl friend at school.

Saturday, February 14, 1959

Got up and went out to Mixson’s this morning. Morris & his daddy planted 8 rows of potatoes. After lunch he took the kids fishing down at the pond. David caught his first fish. He says we can’t eat him, that he wants to keep him! Brenda & Larry didn’t get any. Stayed & had supper & came hour right after.

Got up & we all went to S.S. this morning.  We got a new teacher. A Mrs. Falken. She seems to be real good.  Morris worked in the yar this afternoon. Transplanted those trees. Went over to Mom & Dad’s & had supper with them.

Monday, February 16, 1959

Did a big wash this morning & cleaned house good.  Its’ a beautiful day again. Took care of Sues two girls (Barby Lou & Mary Grace) while she took care of the clinic at school. Gary got a new car today & had to come by & show it off. Pretty nice MG sports car.

Tuesday, February 17, 1959

Went to my circle meeting at the church this morning. Had 12 out of 19 present. Evelyn A. helped me to present the program. The kids & I took a nap this afternoon as it rained. Morris worked tonight.

Wednesday, February 18, 1959

Ironed this morning & didn’t finish it until late in the afternoon. Made a peach upside cake. Real good. Morris worked tonight.

Cleaned house real good today. Morris worked again tonight.

Friday, February 20, 1959

Went by Evelyn’s house this morning & she went to town with me. We ate lunch at the Park Lane Cafeteria. Didn’t get home til 1:45.

Saturday, February 21, 1959

Got up & went out to Mixson’s for lunch. Got the lawn mower & stopped by & got the bassinet from Betty. Brenda went to Sally’s house for a birthday lunch & then to the horse show. When had a wonderful time but so tired. It was quite cold this morning but warmed up this afternoon to 70°.

Sunday, February 22, 1959

Wet to S.S. this morning. Went by Mom’s afterwards as Carole & Bob got here from Atlanta about 1:30 this morning. First time we have seen the baby, Vandy. She’s a doll & Dana is too. Sue & Jimmy came up late in the afternoon & we had a swell get together. Had a light frost this morning & it turned all our nice green grass brown. Got up to 76° this afternoon.

Did a big wash & cleaned house good. Carol is coming over to spend the day tomorrow.

Tuesday, February 24, 1959

Carol came over with the girls this morning & spent the day with us. Gary came over with Bobby at supper & stayed & ate with us. Morris grilled steak outdoors & it was delicious. It was a beautiful day! About 80°. Started to play Canasta but Daddy called Morris to work so Carol & Bob left too as the baby was fussy.  Broke glass frames tonight. They just broke in half.

The house was a mess so I cleaned up good & called several people on the phone this afternoon for our S.S. class.

Thursday, February 26, 1959

Emma Lee & I went out to Ethel Hancock’s house this morning & took her a little gift from our S.S. class as she’s moving. Had to clean up the house some this afternoon.

Friday, February 27, 1959

It rained all day and I came sick so I stayed in the house all day. Carol left Danah here to spend the night with us as she & Bobby went to a party with Gary. She was so sweet. Slept good all night after she cried herself to sleep!

Saturday, February 28, 1959

Went to buy groceries this morning & took Brenda with me. Left Morris & the boys off at Mom’s. Morris fertilized the lawn this afternoon in the rain. Kids & I stayed in the house all afternoon. Carol & Bob left this afternoon.
