Sunday, November 1, 1959

Morris got up & went fishing with John at 5 o’clock this morning. Kids & I went to S.S. & church & then after lunch over to Dot’s & spent the afternoon. Mom & Dad got home from Atlanta about 6 o’clock & Morris got home about 8:30. They caught two fish each!

Monday, November 2, 1959

Washed & cleaned house and got ready for Sunbeams today. Our crowd was down today. Went to bed early.

Went to town & it took all morning to buy the stuff for Brenda’s party tomorrow. Got groceries after lunch, & then we went to see the Reddick football game tonight. Got home about 11 o’clock.

Saturday, November 7, 1959

Took me all morning to bake cupcakes, Brenda’s birthday cake, decorate the porch, & clean house. We had 16 to the party, & she really enjoyed, but by the time Betty & Billy left (they stayed for supper) and I got the mess cleaned up, I was pooped! It was cold & raining all day too.

Sunday, November 8, 1959

After that party yesterday I was a nervous wreck! We sept until 9:15 this morning, & then went out to Mixsons for dinner. Went to see Aunt Alice, Grandma Anderson & Uncle Bill. Wilma, Frances, Doris & Evelyn and families we all there so enjoyed seeing them. Grandma Anderson sure is getting bad. Bet she goes this winter! (she, died Jan 11, 1961, at the age of 94)

Brenda’s birthday & Mom had us all over for her birthday dinner. It was delicious. She gave her 5.00 for her gift.

Washed & cleaned house good today. Morris went to work tonight & I went to bed early.

Thursday, November 12, 1959

Went to Norma’s this morning & planned the Dec. Meeting for the Sunbeams in her group.

Irene Rick & I talked on the for 1 hr. & 40 minutes tonight!

Friday, November 13, 1959

Susie & I went by & talked to Marie Lewis’s as I was upset about our church & our preacher. Just don’t know whether to leave the church or not.  We had been going to North Central Baptist Church for several years, but this year started going to Westside just down the road from us on west University Avenue. Westside started as a branch of North Central but had separated from North Central so Mom was trying to decide to switch from North Central to Westside. Mom was very active in North Central with the Sunbeams and had several good friends there, but Westside was much closer.  We did make the switch joined Westside.   Went to town then & got groceries after David got home from school. Morris went to work tonight. Its’ been real nice weather all week. Almost hot in the afternoons with cool evenings & mornings.

Saturday, November 14, 1959

Well Susie’s mom paid me 30.00 for 3 weeks today so the kids & I went to town this morning, ate lunch at the drugstore & then they all got new shoes. Betty came by the afternoon & stayed & ate supper with us. Billy was working & they didn’t leave until 11 tonight. Betty & I sure had a good gab session! Almost hot weather today!

Well we went down here to Westside Chapel this morning to S.S. & church. The kids & I enjoyed it, but Morris is indifferent. Took a nap after lunch & then drove around town this afternoon. Real warm today again.

Morris got back tonight late from his fishing trip. They didn’t have very good luck.

Wednesday, November 25, 1959

Betty came by this afternoon with her kids so we all went to see the Xmas parade together. (It is real cold). Brenda went home to spend the night with Janice & Karen.

Thanksgiving Day

Got up early & went out to Mixsons for today’s dinner. Adrian, now Arnold’s family came and I was real disappointed. Morris took the boys out in the woods this afternoon & they had a big time. Mixsons came home with us to spend the night.

Friday, November 27, 1959

Took the kids & grandma up town for awhile & then came home & fried the fish Morris & John caught. Took Mixsons home and went to Betty & Billy’s for chili supper. Put the kids to bed & we played canasta until 2 o’clock. (Betty & I beat the men 2 games!)

Saturday, November 28, 1959

We got home from Betty’s about noon, & Morris put up plastic to our front rooms.  The front rooms were the living room and the now enclosed front porch, both of which had Jalousie windows which leaked air from their many panes of glass making the rooms very cold in the winter so Dad covered the inside of the windows with a translucent plastic.    The kids & I took a nap & Morris watched a football game on TV. We all went to bed early.

Morris had a headache so the kids & I went to S.S. & church. Went over to Mom’s later this afternoon & then we stayed & ate lunch with her. (Corky & Daddy went to church)

Washed & went to Sunbeams this afternoon. It was really cold today & not many children came.
