Subject: nighthawk and other
clarifications
I wanted to use Adeberan for the star in Orion (?) but it was taken as a
password. I tried several others, but they were taken. I picked up a
dictionary and flipped through it--nighthawk kind of jumped out. I
figured it was meant to be, and I rather like it.
When did you marry? If its 17 years--were you married when I crossed
your path at UCF. I can't recall. I still owe you 300.00.
When did I visit you in Melbourne, once--you obviously weren't married
then. I recall you told me on the beach--"I am willing to work because
there are things I want out of life, but you don't seem to want to do
that" or something like that. When you came to AGH, did you come from
Melbourne--it seems you must have had--I'm not sure. After I left your
relative's house, I moved to a place--something like Redwood--I'm not
sure, right across from Santa Fe Jr. College--not the main campus but
the branch on the road heading out to Micanope. I'm forgetting street
names. Then I moved into a wonderful apt. called Tumblin Creek
apartments. I walked to AGH every day to work. The apts. went "condo"
and I almost bought it. I've often wished I had have done so, but one
day bulldoziers came in and destroyed the woods behind me. Right outside
my bedroom was a creek. I worked 4 til midnight some of the time and in
the mornings I would go to campus and participate in psychology
experiments for fun, sometimes small pay. I did alot of that. At some
point I took a few courses in preparation for applying to the program at
UCF.
I really got back to reading at about this time (1977 on) and a very
formative book for me was Peter Berger's The Sociology of Knowledge. I
really wanted to go to NY and study at the New School for Social
Research, but couldn't afford it. I moved to Orlando to "pick up" a two
year degree in Medical Records Management, so I would be able to move to
NY and get a high paying job, and go to school. Sorry, patron came in.
Yes I was married when we crossed paths back in 1983. I don’t remember her coming to visit me in Melbourne, it was probably pre Julie so ’79 or ’80. In 1981 I “loaned” her $350, in her letter she originally asked for $300 then in the P.S. asked for $50 more. The reference to “AGH” was Alachua General Hospital where she worked doing medical transcription, but I do not remember visiting her there.
