Subject: Re: Reflections on Time
I know what you mean, a 10 hour drive is a lot of time which could be
better spent on more productive things. On our last couple of long trips
we got a couple of books on tape which seem to make the time to go much
quicker. Still, with your limited time between semesters I'm sure the
time could be better spent.RE: Reflections on Time
A "five year plan" is a good idea. My wife and I have many discussions
about our plans for each of us individually and for us together. I am
not sure we really make it out to five years but more like three years.
It seems like after three years things get too fuzzy to really plan. We
do look at the longer term, our plans for retirement are often discussed
but more on a theoretical level. I have not heard the term "project
jobs" but that seems very appropriate for what I do particularly as I
never have been at a single job for more than five years. Last night I
again found an article in a magazine about what one should be saving for
retirement if you start at a specific age. If my daughter starts now at
the age of 25 she only needs to put $180 a month. For me, well I don't
want to think about it!
Recreation/re-creation, that was good. I glad you enjoy your studies for
school work as I think that is half the battle. For the most part I
really enjoyed the computer courses I took. I think that is part of the
problem when I think about working on a masters. Where I now am at in my
career a masters in business would be most practical but I don't think I
would enjoy it. On the other hand I would enjoy getting a masters in
some computer program but it would not serve me as well.
This weekend I will be going camping with the Boy Scouts. We
leave Saturday morning and will drive to West Virginia to where there
are some caves. The scouts will do some spelunking. I might check out
the cave some but I understand it is a very wet cave in which you get
very wet, dirty and cold. Not my idea of fun but the scouts are excited
about it. I picked up the troop gear at our meeting on Tuesday and have
been hauling it around in my Explorer all week. The weather should be
great, it is supposed to be in the 80's this weekend! I always enjoy
camping and am looking forward to it.
Till, Monday,
Larry
