By the way, how did the interview go? It seems in some ways that
you haven't been overly excited about your present position. I
know that's based on little real evidence, but I didn't pick up a "wow"
much, except for the corner office. Plus, you wrote about the
social isolation factor. Let me know--just make certain they get
your name right. EJ

Subject: Jobs and Interview
The interview seemed to go OK but it was hard to really tell. The did
not have a copy of my resume which was strange. It seems the recruiter
got my name and pre-screened me on the phone but never got my resume. I
thus had to spend time telling them about my previous experience and
they told me about what they were looking for generally but not specific
jobs. They seemed interested, I was interested in their company but came
away not knowing what I could do for them or where I could fit. I
emailed them my resume of the weekend so I'll give it a few days and if
I don't hear from them then I'll call.
You are right in that I am not really excited about the new job. The
people are friendly, the work (image systems) is OK and it is Federal vs
DOD work. It is also feels good to be the "expert" and have them depend
on me for the technical solutions. On the other hand I've done imaging
before and it was interesting the first time around the second time it
is more of the same. Federal (ATF) is better then DOD (Navy, Army, etc)
but still has much of the red tape of federal contracts, yuck. I much
prefer commercial work.
They are looking for additional persons here at my current job
(Performance Engineering Corp. or PEC) so I talked to one of the guys I
worked with at Dyncorp and he is coming in for an interview on
Wednesday. I get $3,000 if they hire him which would be nice but I would
feel a little bad if they hire him to work with me on image systems then
I left to go to the other job. Oh well, I have to do what I have to do.
Alabama is not the only state to have such a governor. DC, although not
strictly a state, has Barry who got thrown out and convicted on drug use
then when he served his year or two sentence he go re-elected. It looks
like next time around he will not get re-elected but you never know.
I too have had some repetitive dreams but can't recall them at the
moment. I can remember waking up from dreaming and going "I've had that
dream before", but I can't seem to recall the dream a few hours later. I
probably need to write them down when I wake up.
It sounds like the Jasmine Gardens are much like Dumbarton Oaks although
Dumbarton does not have the Grecian theme. Dumbarton was a large house
in Georgetown which the owners made several acres of landscaped gardens.
The house is now a library owned by Yale (or Harvard) but the gardens
are opened to the public. We usually go there a couple of times each
year and just walk around or sit and enjoy the views.
Cherry trees have blossoms that are very puffy and the tree is so
completely covered in them you can't see the branches.

I am not sure what job interview I had gone to, I had had the job at PEC only a few weeks at this point so I’m not sure why I would have been interviewing. It possible it might have been from jobs I applied to when I applied at PEC.
