Cute subject. Didn't "catch" it at first. I'm very restless,
and marginally bored. I just read some of the on-line commentary
about the PBS show--of course the fundamentalists said the show was put
together by people "who didn't believe" and why wasn't Billy Graham
asked his opinion, etc. There was an enormous controversy over the
scrolls, and you are right about the censorship. The scrolls
contained very controversial material, some of which virtually
negates/ed our current New Testament. I got very interested in
this area some time back and still am interested. In fact in
library school did a project in "collection develoopment" to put
together a list of books, children's and adults, on the subject.
One thing bothering me may be that I did watch the show. Sometimes
I wish I were more actively or creatively involved in the world of ideas
in some way, although part of me learned I wasn't happy in the academic
world of research. When I get interested in something like the PBS
show--I don't know if this will make sense--but it's as if I have no
where to go with the excitement or interest, or no way to connect with
it outside of myself, my own readings.
