Subject: Nothing Much
There isn't much happening. I am having to make work, which
results in mega-boredom, although the rest is nice. The Contracts
professor didn't have the grades ready last night as promised.
Additionally I got a call from the law school that there was a mix-up
about the secret number on my exam, so even though I know the grades
were posted this morning, mine isn't, until I go in and straighten it
out.
Today was employee appreciation day and lunch was free. Barbecue
sandwich, beans, coleslaw, chips, ice cream sandwich and cokes. I
ate the sandwich without most of the bun, and threw away the outside of
the ice cream sandwich, and didn't eat the chips, which I'll save for
another time. The Wellness part of the hospital has advocated to
get us a more nutritional, less fat, appreciation lunch. Last year
they were successful and chicken breasts were served. I think they
lost this year. The barbecue actually, though was quite good.
Ironically the meal left me hungry, though I'm sure I got lots of fat
calories.
The Sierra Club is going to the beach preserve this weekend. I'm
weighing whether or not to go. I've thought in the past about
tying it into going to see my mother, as the preserve is almost halfway
there.
The Club usually goes down on Friday afternoon, and its about a four
hour drive. Then we come back on Sunday. It's about 7
dollars a night to stay there, but it's just a converted army barracks
of sort. The clubs property is nested inside a gated community
with multimillion dollar homes on or just back from the beach.
Much of the area is natural beach preserve.
I'm still reading Undying Love by Ian McEwan. I think I told you
the book was Obsession, but that's what it is about, an obsessive love
affair, while the title is different.
I don't have enormous assignments for law school this weekend, which is
why I can even consider the trip. As I write, I seem to be
inclining to saying I'll go. My major reservation is that I have
very little petty cash. If I catch a ride with someone, I usually
give them 10 for gas, and it will cost be 15 or so to stay there.
Usually we go out to eat once and often get pounds of steamed shrimp for
another night. So, even while it's an extremely economical
getaway, I'm not certain about sparing the 50 or so dollars. I
probably should take advantage of the trip though, as nothing else would
be as "cheap" while I get through this expensive tuition summer.
I hope you're doing well. It sounds as if your project is moving
along.
Did you say you are contract? Elizabeth
