Subject: Talking myself into it
Yes, I'm talking myself into the trip. I've called the people who
usually go. One is planning on taking a van, so I could have a
ride, and they are not leaving until 1:00 which means I could work a few
hours, then go. Always with these trips, however, I find myself
wishing that not too many people go. The truth is I sort of put up
with the people in order to have a cheap trip, and I spend as much time
as possible alone. That wouldn't be true of any group, but the
Sierra group is a strange assortment, and at times I don't think we mesh
well as a group, and I'm not sure why.
The ATF was in the news recently, about those small guns which people
were sneaking through air ports. That was interesting.
I called the law school and apparently I can get my snafu straightened
out this afternoon.
What I'll for the trip is xerox the cases I need to brief and take those
with me to read, rather than lug the big heavy books. I imagine
this may be the lightest assignment week I'll have in awhile, so in a
sense it's a window. But then, a nagging part of myself says I
should go visit my mother instead, but I can't do that in a weekend, I'd
have to have more time.
Did you catch the X-files spoof in that wierd Millenium show about the
devils. That was funny.
I'm going to have to set my VCR and pray the electricity doesn't go off
so that I can tape the final X-file show which is Sunday. However,
the truth is we are ordinarily back by late afternoon, which is another
advantage to going, as we get back early. Bridges of Madison
County is also on t.v. this weekend, and the last episode of Millenium
looks interesting as well.
Well, I need to ask my boss if I'm going to take a half day or so
tomorrow. Have a good weekend. I can't believe all those
days of rain. I think I'd trade though. We are in the high
90's, past 95.
