The Dire Straits albums I have are "Brother in Arms" and "Money for Nothing".  They came out longer ago then I thought, 1987 and 1988.  I really like the Brother in Arms the best.  I checked Amazon.com, they do music now, and found D.S. have a couple of other albums but I am not familiar with them.  If you like D.S. they you might also like U2.  U2 is a lot like D.S., perhaps even better.  Their "The Joshua Tree" album I think is their best, even better than the D.S.  "Achtung, Baby" and "Rattle And Hum" are also pretty good.
 
The new music is a real mixed bag, some is good, a little of it is really good but much of it, well lets just say its not worth listening to.  Thinking back that was much the way it was in our youth but we only remember the best.
