Subject: Busy Day
Just got time to check my messages (around 4:15), but also I got out of
the habit of routinely checking while you were away, although there are
one or two people who might use that address. Glad you had some
decent weather. We had several episodes of very tumultous weather
here as well, but I can't recall which days. Many lost power, but
fortunately I didn't.
I'm about the same. In summary--I haven't yet heard from the
lawyer I wrote to with the update about the situation with my sister.
If I don't here soon, I may have to e-mail him again to see if he DID
get my message. I find it strange he hasn't replied by now--but
it's really been only a week and a half. He may be doing some
checking for me. I'm just not sure.
Thursday I finally got in for a cancellation appointment to have a
physical exam with the physician I wanted to see. My appointment
was at 3:15, but I didn't even get to see her til 4:30. I
fortunately had a book. I didn't get out until 6:00. She was
running way behind. She said my BP is really only mildly elevated
and nothing to be concerned about and that lack of exercise on a regular
basis is probably the biggest contributory factor, that plus extra
pounds. She was not alarmed. She recommended buying either a
stationary bike or a treadmill--depending on which I would be less bored
with. I spent considerable time researching "best buys" and
finally concluded that in an acceptable price range, there really aren't
too many. Consumer Reports gave the cheaper units really bad
ratings, with problems in noise level or malfunctioning. I finally
decided to once again try and walk regularly, so this morning I walked
at 5:30--which was not intentional, but I made a point of getting into
bed at 10:30 and so I woke up spontaneously. Then, I walked 15 min
at lunch in the parking deck which is shaded and so a little bit
cooler--its in the 95's here. She wanted me to try exercise for
six weeks and see what happens. Otherwise, there were no problems,
but the lab data and mammogram etc aren't back yet.
I saw the Spanish Prisoner this week as my recreation. The film is by
David Mamet who does rather unusual films. Recently I saw an old
one by him called I believe House of Games. I enjoyed SP, but it,
to me, was similar to House of Games--sort of an elaborate who can you
trust or who do you trust scenario, with twists and twists.
I have Friday off if I want as an official holiday, but I don't have to
take it. But, this is a holiday which is a real holiday, meaning I
don't have to work.
Basically that's catch up. I'm behind in school re my mother's
death and trying to catch up, as finals will be all too soon. Wed.'s
class cancelled which is an extra added break, as I only have two
classes this week. Welcome back. EJ
