Internet service went down yesterday afternoon so I couldn't read my
mail. Yesterday, being back at work, and class last night, has
made the holidays already something of a blur. Friday I got up
very early and went to the park to walk. Even though it wasn't
quite six there were a number of people there, and I saw a friend of
mine from law school walking her dog. It was quite pleasant though quite
hot even so early. For food over the holiday I had picked up a
rotisserie chicken, which I really like, to have during the weekend.
Saturday a.m. I again got up early and went out to a new bagel place
which opened recently, fortunately finding it open for the 4th. I sat
and relaxed and read the paper. Again, though early, it was full of
people. (One thing I discovered about Montgomery when I moved here
is that it is an "early" down. The flip side of that is often by
9:30 streets empty out, or immediately after the malls close.) Saturday
afternoon I napped some and read also. I always watch the Boston
Pops 4th of July concert, which I especially like now that Keith Lockart
is the director. I also caught a few Bravo movies at different
times. Intermingled I studied law. It was basically a non-social
weekend, but I needed the free time and rest.
Monday I had to get up early for a 7:30 mammogram appointment, and then
of course, last night the prof kept us to the very last minute with no
break hardly, so today I'm a little bit tired. I don't know how
the students who commute long distances do it. I know several who
have 1-2-3 hour drives AFTER class lets out. As it is, getting out
at 9:30, it's almost 10 when I drive the short distance home, and there
is no time to do anything except get ready for bed. But, you know
about school and work, as you drove all those miles for your degree.
I finally got some artichoke hearts, frozen ones, and plan to try
cooking them. I saw an interesting recipe with rice, chicken and
cheese. Also, I remember you said you put them on boboli, I think.
I've eaten dishes, but never fixed any myself.
Wired was good this month. There was an interview with Gore Vidal,
which surprised me. I had just read his memoirs not too long ago.
Well, I best go to work. Slow day as of yet. Wasn't that
something with all of Flagler county being evacuated. Elizabeth
Flagler County in Florida was being evacuated because of the wildfires.
