Subject: Mood
I'm not in a good mood, but I enjoyed reading your note. I like
the fact that the web addresses hyperlink, so when I get a chance I can
go directly to the Random House site. I tried reading a Tek book
and it was the worst writing ever. What are, say for example, the
best five or ten books you've ever read? I'll generate a list,
then we'll compare. I need to think for a while though. I
finished the Digital Thriller book. Parts of it were sort of
implausible, but all in all it was interesting. I enjoyed learning
about some of the simple and early historical encryption devices--for
example one of the Caesars always coded his messages, and that is
brought up in the book.
I think my mood is the result of being apartment bound all weekend,
except for walking Saturday morning, and doing nothing except studying
Constitutional Law. I studied for hours on end. At one point
to distract myself from some noise outside I flipped on cable t.v. to
VH1 ?, which I never watch, but they were showing a special on Fleet
Wood Mac--I can't decide whether to put a K on that or not. That
was very interesting because they had apparently broken up and split
apart, but Clinton asked them to sing at his Inaugural Celebration,
which they did, as one of their songs was his campaign theme song.
That brought them back together. I always liked their songs.
So, I sort of listened to that while I studied and then also listened to
a special on a women's musical festival called Lilith Fair. That
was interesting as well. Other than that I did NOTHING all weekend
except study Con Law and finish Digital Fortress.
There is a massive amount of material in Con Law and I haven't stayed up
on it. We have a paper due today, but I finished it last
week--which I am praising myself for having done.
Also, I woke up "angry" over my sister--wondering what ELSE I could do,
but I just decided it was very important then to go out and walk, which
I did at 6:00 a.m.
I keep floundering about my "vacation." I think I'm putting too
much pressure on it. Since I haven't been anywhere in a while, I
want whatever I choose to be "good" and worthwhile. I don't want
to blow my rare time off and the money--as it won't come around soon
again. The reason I asked about B & B's is that there are a lot of
them everywhere--they tend to run even in AL about 90/night, but for me
I don't think it would be relaxing to feel as if I were staying in
someone's house. I think I would feel more like a guest than a
consumer of services. Also, I think I would have to interact with
people around the place, when I might just want to be alone.
However, if, like in your ranger case, you enjoy the people, that might
be different. The trouble is, as I get more tired, with finals
approaching, my energy and motivation to plan a trip starts to go--and
all I want to do is crash and rest and watch videos instead of pack up
and go. Oh well.
Long, rambling note. Oh by the way, the frozen artichokes were a
little bland, but they might have been overwhelmed in the dish I made,
which was with chicken and noodles (it was on the back of the noodle
package). I still have half a box left to try in something else.

--Oh I did get some new CDs, the Dylan album, some Mozart violin
concertos, Hildegard von Bingen, and an Elgar violin concerto. The
last I don't care for and haven't played the Dylan yet. The Mozart
and von Bingen are good--the latter if you like the sacred chant type
music, which I do. I had joined BMG club many months ago, but
never used my free selection coupons, which I finally got around to
doing.
