Subject: Amotivational
I've lacked some motivation to come to work the past two days. The
weather is still dreary with no sun in two days. Flu is rampant. I
dread getting it just as school starts, because I have three courses
this time, three nights a week. My friend in the office next door
caught it by coming in to work a half day on Thursday before Christmas.
She was sick all the holiday. I'm so glad I did not come in.
I half way planned to, but when I got up it was raining and cold.
My boss had said I didn't have to work, but I thought I might at least
do the mail (journals which I need to check in). I'm still reading
Dickens, but got bogged down in a chapter last night. The writing
is more intricate than "best sellers" but he makes really pointed
observations about human behavior, which is probably one reason he is
considered a great writer. In that sense he seems modern. I also
watched a John Wayne movie last night, my very first EVER I think.
It was not a combat movie or a western though, but a story of a man
returning to Ireland, his birthplace (The Quiet Man). The film won
all sorts of awards (4 ****) for cinematography, etc., so I thought I'd
watch it. I don't think I'll become a "fan" but it was okay.
If it was filmed in Ireland, it certainly made me want to go. My
grandfather was Irish, or great grandfather, I forget. I didn't
realize how bad it was in Viriginia, but I haven't seen anything about
your area. I hope you are okay and have power. N. AL is still without
power, but it is expected to be returned Wed., just in time for the next
cold snap. I read some about Williamsburg, which has been without
power for six days. Some people commented on really getting
"colonial." Hope you are well. I had this almost strange
nightmare last night, which was a little scary. A "killer" or
dangerous person took over my/our house. I sneaked out and tried
to get help from neighbors, but they "did not want to get involved."
I was afraid the "killer" would see me as I sneaked or moved to another
place to get help. It was bizarre. I got the Auburn Univ.
at Montgomery community ed catalog yesterday and they are having a
program on Jungian dream analysis. I plan to register. (I planned
to do that BEFORE the dream last night.) If you remember when I first
started writing to you I went to a workshop on Mandalas. It was at
AUM as well. About once a year they have an interesting program
for me. They have tons which are NOT of interest as well. I
wish they would do a yoga one that would fit my schedule. They did
a biking one once, which also including purchasing one. They have
a kayaking course, which I would like to take, but truthfully I am
afraid to. I have a little fear that with my knee if there was a
tip over or something, that I would not have the mobility needed to move
quickly. They also teach the "roll." There are some high class rated
rapids near here and they work up to doing those. I've seen
kayakers in lakes and rivers and it looks SO peaceful. Are kayaks
always for one person. Do you know? Well, I envy you the
whole week off, except if you don't have power, that would be a bummer,
although I'm certain you would be creative and innovative. Did I
ever mention to you that I thought I saw you in a special I watched on
the history of computers? It was a while back and was quite a long
show and in one segment I could have sworn I saw you walk through in the
background. In fact I just remembered I got tired of watching the
show as it was so long and taped the last part--which is probably on an
unlabeled tape somewhere. Elizabeth
