Subject: Hello
I can't remember when I wrote last or what we were talking about, except
that you wouldn't be having to go into the city to work, and that it was
cherry blossom time again. I had a final Monday night.
I left work early about 2:30 and went to the law library to study.
It is a very nice place to study, as it and the whole building are new.
I started to e-mail you from there, but I didn't want to get distracted.
I only "goofed up" on my exam in one significant place.
The scenario was a woman who fled with her children to get away from an
alcoholic husband whose judge-friend had decided to give HIM custody of
the children. I forgot to put in that if Alabama tried to help her
get custody, here in Alabama, and that if she "lost" she would have to
pay ALL the expenses for lawyers on both sides, all witnesses,
transportation costs, lodging, etc. It's a heavy duty penalty to
help deter people from snatching kids and running to another state.
That was a costly mistake as the question was 15 points. I
certainly hope I "kept an A" though. I know I made a few other
slight errors, but hopefully they won't add up too much. Its hard
to tell. Yesterday I went out to the Air Base because the military
appeals court from Washington in a "project outreach" was actually doing
a trial here in Montgomery. They all traveled here to hold the
court. I really enjoyed hearing the attorneys argue.
Otherwise, I'm trying to keep track of Kosovo. A lot of people in
Alabama are "reserve." Its a big thing to do. For years its
been get together with the boys for a weekend away from home.
Since Desert Storm though its got more serious and a lot of people from
Alabama got called. I heard today some may go down to Cuba to the
refugee camps. Well, hope you're doing okay. Elizabeth
