Subject: Filters and Pumps
I thought the Britta package said it took out lead, but maybe I'm not
right. Oh, since you bought one. Did you understand the
instructions. It said to "soak the filter in water" for 15
minutes, then put it in the pitcher and pour water through. It
shows the filter soaking in water in the pitcher. BUT, do you
throw out that water. I presume so. I guess that's to
activate the filter, but the instructions didn't make it clear what to
do with the water in the pitcher after soaking the filter. I guess
since you'd have to dip your hands in it to get the filter out, you're
supposed to throw it out. DUH... I'm going to have to go to
Sears and get a pump, otherwise I won't ever get the bed set up.
Its pumping up so incrementally slowly that I can't really tell if it is
even filling up at this point. The bed thing was a real dilemma. I
didn't want to get bogged down in another cumbersome possession. Another
long term tenant fled the apt complex this week. I don't know if I
will be able to last until I finish school or not. Partly it has to do
with who is being allowed to live there. Shortly I think there
will be a complete flip flop. The apt version of white flight.
The apt. property abutts an exclusive home area of 350,000+, they are
virtually castles. Those people are going to croak at having a
"ghetto" on their doorstep. I've heard they have already
complained about the appearance, but shortly afterwards all the
buildings were blasted and painted. Its really a shame. I'm
making it sound like a dump, but it's not. Its just age of the
place so repairs are mounting up and the demographics switching. My apt
is huge by apt standards and the location is absolutely ideal. Its
perfect for going to law school as I am less than 10 minutes away.
In any case, what I would like to do when I leave is leave everything
behind or for the salvation army. I'm going to try and diet one
more time down to the size where most of my clothes are (the ones I
can't wear since moving to Montgomery) and if I don't make it, then I'll
get rid of the clothes, and then just settle on the size I am and buy
new clothes. Well, going to Boston sounds nice. I'm seeing
refurbished VWs show up in town now. I've hardly seen any before.
They have been very rare before. When I lived in Winter Park
Florida they were quite the rage, but not so in Alabama. I went
out and washed mine the other day. It needs ALOT. Do you
like the job you are in now.
It seems like a lot of run around. Do you mind the travel?
Well, I have to go pay my tuition and buy a book for school. They
have a crazy rule that you have to pay your tuition (or the first
installment) before the first day of class, which is Monday.
