The new project for the USDA started quite suddenly last Thursday and we
made arrangements at 4pm on Friday to go to Denver to meet with the USDA
guys to get the project started. I flew out to Denver on Sunday,
early so that I could spend the day checking out Denver and CO. I
have never been here before. Mat, a junior guy who will being doing the
coding came with me. Yesterday we went up into the mountains,
WOW!, real mountains, Denver is at 5,000 ft (the highest thing in VA is
only 3400ft). We drove up on the Peak to Peak Highway which the
highest point was at 9,400 ft. We then drove down and ate lunch in
Boulder which is a really neat college town.
Denver sucks, reminded me of Atlanta, high rise towers with large urban
sprawl. We are actually staying in Fort Collins, an hour north of
Denver.
F.C. is also a college town and quite nice but not as neat as Boulder.
We finished up around 4pm today and I'm writing this from my new laptop
in the hotel room. Yes, the AO project is still a possibility, I
just read my email and found that we have a technical meeting with them
on Monday so that may happen still. Well just a short note till I
get back into the office.
