Subject: Neat
Well, the project aside, I think it was neat to get to go see Denver
etc. What kind of laptop did you get? "Ultimately" that's
what I want, more so than a big computer. I'm not clear though how
the internet connections work. I know some hotels have connections
now, but I'm still not clear how that works. At the last library
conference I went to, several people brought their laptops and plugged
in at the hotel. Also, since I'm asking questions, how do internet
connections in remote places work (no wires) like the ads you see for
people in the jungle, etc. I presume by satellite, but how do you
connect? I think its neat to have a job where you get to go different
places. My brother's job is like that. He's been all over
with his "mortgages." If I were more connected with librarianship,
there are two big conferences every year and most librarians go to
those, BUT alot of the people who go get travel allowances, which I
don't here--also I'm somewhat disconnected from librarianship in a
professional way, except for the one state organization I work with a
little. I've got sort of a break this week because of Monday, no
classes, and no classes on Wednesday, but have to go Thursday night.
The last week or so I'm having trouble getting into things--almost as if
I'm bored. Usually a good book will captivate me, but I just
finished a pretty good medical thriller and haven't picked up anything
new yet. I think I'm still having an ongoing mid-life crisis, but
conflicting desires. I want to simplify my life, but I also want
more comfort and ease. For one thing, I think I need a housekeeper
one day a week, just to come in and catch me up. I just can't seem
to keep it up with work and school. Elizabeth
