Subject: Re: Back to work.
I thought you were away again, so I hadn't written. Also, our
computers were out at odd times. Have you started the court
project. I just got out of an unproductive meeting. Our hospital
recently bought several others in the area and we were trying to work
out library services. My boss, another dept. head and I met.
Not my boss, but the other person said very clearly she wanted "one
number" people could call for library service. I kept vetoing
that, simply because, of course, the "one number" would be me.
Some days, the truth is, I have little to do. In fact this week I
have gone crazy with "boredom." I should have just taken off.
There has been so little to do. But finals week, there was a ton
of work coming in and I had to take off, because I could not count on
not being totally stressed out with work. And some days are like that,
I'm max'd out. Anyway, not much new.
Law school starts back Monday. None of my grades are up yet.
I've done a little reading. Trying to finish Simple Truth by David
Baldacchi. I bought two books by Neal Stephenson, the man who
wrote Snow Crash. They looked pretty interesting. I wanted
to let you know he has a brand new book out, but it is massive. I was
looking at it in the bookstore and two older books of his were
mentioned, along with Snow Crash. I checked and the bookstore had
one copy of each, so I bought them. Last night I rented
videos--You've Got Mail which I watched last night, and two others, but
right now I can't remember what I finally selected, as I looked at so
many. It had been months since I had been in the video store.
I'm really trying to lose weight. I had a can of Slim Fast and did
that about a week and a half mostly to use it up, as I had had it over a
year or so. I lost about 4-5 pounds. Then, it seemed such a
bother once it was used up, trying to pack bkfast, and lunch--so I broke
down and bought another can. I mix two servings with a
banana--which makes it taste better, and drink some at home, then throw
the rest in a jug. Nutritionists don't like you to use Slim Fast
because they say it doesn't teach you how to eat. Well, I know how
to eat, and if I could ever get my weight back down, I know I could keep
it down. I guess they think Slim Fast is a crutch, but I finally
deciding maybe I needed one. Otherwise, tomorrow I go to train to
learn how to do water testing and monitoring with the Sierra club.
That will suck away my Saturday. I wondered if your taking two
more yoga classes had anything to do with "the instructor." How's
that going anyway. I tried to think about "a relationship" esp.
sexual--with someone who was maybe NOT monogamous, and then I thought of
how complicated it has become with AIDS and everything.
But then, a lot of married people have gotten AIDS because they thought
their partner was monogamous, but wasn't. I got one recent e-mail
from the professor I have been writing. He apologized for not
writing--said the bright side he wasn't addicted to his computer.
Well, I am still mega bored, but I have to type up some statistics
because of our meeting. I was elated that there is going to be a
ground breaking for a new part of the law school, which is part of the
accreditation process. The announcement came when I had just about
given up that I would graduate with an Amer. Bar Association accredited
degree. It reawoke hope, but it still may be remote.
The school passed a rule that you can take no longer than 6 years to
graduate. (It's about a 3/1 to 4 year program full time.)
I've completed two complete years this fall, so I could stall some.
I had planned on finishing the whole thing including bar exam in five,
but I could stall a little, if accreditation looked close. Have a
good weekend. Elizabeth
