Elizabeth,
Well HTML is the basic language for web page design and is
simple enough but of course it’s become a lot more complicated with
Frames, CSS and XML to name a few enhancements. The basic web
design tools try to make it a lot simpler and take care of a lot of the
basic design work but, in the end, to get a nice looking page it takes
editing directly the HTML, CSS, etc. Professional web
designers seem to favor Adobe Dreamweaver for page layout but this is in
part due to the extensive set of associated tools that Adobe has to go
with it. See http://www.adobe.com/ The
full set of Adobe tools cost over $1500. For my web site I
use Microsoft Expression Web which is by some rated higher then
Dreamweaver but it doesn’t have the full set of tools like Adobe does so
you have to get other programs for such things as image editing.
Expression Web is around $250.
As far as learning here are a lot of online free tutorials for the basics
like HTML, CSS. There are DVD tutorials for Dreamweaver and
Expression Web.
My record to CD project is still underway. It works quite well but
takes a long time since you have to listen to every record and then
convert and save it to CD. I also save the music files to my iPod.
I bought a record player that had the computer interface built in and
came with the software for around $175. I seldom listen to
CDs anymore since I loaded all my CDs onto my IPod. Quite cool.
I’m doing well, still working at AOL but never sure for how much longer.
It’s good to hear from you. Hope you are also doing well.
