Elizabeth,
Good to hear you have a new job. The commute doesn’t sound
good. A basic yoga class is good to start with. I
often recommend a “gentle yoga” class for people new to yoga.
Backbends like cobra are often challenging at first as they use muscles
that we don’t use as much. We tend to a lot of bending forward but
seldom to we bend backwards. One key thing to remember if it hurts
like in a sharp pain then back off as something’s not right. If
you feel a aching pain the next day from stretching or using the muscles
then that is usually a good thing.
