William Mixon, s. of Jesse Mixon and his first wife, was b. ca.1775 in South Carolina, d. 1843 in Lawrence County, MS.. About 1800 he m. Mary Eleanor Joyce, dau. of James Joyce of Barnwell District, SC. He was a resident of Tattnall County, GA before 1809, at which time he was given a land grant of 285 acres and another grant of 200 acres in 1819. This was after the family had moved to Mississippi and shown there in 1816 census with one son under 21, and 8 females besides his wife.

William Mixon moved into Lawrence County, Mississippi, in 1824, and is on the 1830 census in that county. He paid tax in Lawrence County from 1824 through 1828 which was the last year he paid poll tax, so probably was 50 years old that year. He paid tax on 160 acres of land 1834 through 1839, and is on the census of 1840 in Lawrence County. He probably  died about 1842. There seems to have been a terrific epidemic of some kind in 1842, as the 1843 tax lists show very many vacancies. Jesse and William Mixon paid tax in 1843.

1772 VINCENT MIXON, JESSE MIXON (702), JOHN MIXON IV (6), JOHN MIXON III (3), JOHN MIXON II (2), JOHN MIXON I (1)

Vincent Mixon, (He was usually referred to as Vinson), s. of Jesse Mixon and wife, was b. ca.1778 in South Carolina. He participated in the 1805 Georgia Land Lottery, and on Monday, January 28, 1811, he, with his wife and six children, were among a number of people granted passports by the Governor of Georgia to pass through the Indian Nations.

He is shown in the 1816 census of Marion County, MS, with his wife and six children, with three sons and three daughters. He was a juror in Marion County, 1819, but is not shown in the 1820 or subsequent censuses of MS or GA It is not known what happened to him and his family - they could have gone to another state, or could have died and his children scattered, some could have returned to Georgia. Some of his children (and it could have been one or more sons) were born, evidently, before 1800, as he had his six children at the time of his passport in Jan, 1811. They could have moved to TX, where no complete census was had before 1850.

From Marguerite Richardson Biemer:

Vinson Mixon paid tax last time in 1818 in Marion County. Grandmother said someone was taken back to Georgia to be with her people. She also had relatives in Alabama. This must have been Vinson's wife, and her maiden name was probably Webb.

Census:

1811 Mississippi Territory, Vincent Mixon, Name on petition to Congress, 27 Dec 1811, by inhabitants of the territory seeking to be combined with West Florida and made into a new state.

1816 Marion Count, MS, Mississippi, State and Territorial Census, Vinson Mixon

1773 JESSE MIXON, JR., JESSE MIXON (702), JOHN MIXON IV (6), JOHN MIXON III (3), JOHN MIXON II (2), JOHN MIXON I (1)

Jesse Mixon, Jr., s. of Jesse Mixon and his wife Mary, was b. in South Carolina ca. 1790. He, along with some brothers and his father, all then living in Bulloch County, GA, were participants in the Georgia Land Lottery of 1805. He did not go to Mississippi with his father and some other of his brothers, but remained in Georgia. There is reason to believe that this is the same Jesse Mixon who m. Sarah Bowen in Bulloch County, Aug 3, 1801, and evidently he is the same Jesse Mixon found in Telfair County, GA, census of 1820, where he is listed with two males 10-16; 1 male 16-26; 1 male 26-45; 1 female under 10; and 1 female 26-45. The 1830 census of Telfair lists Sarah Mixon, evidently a widow, with a daughter age 10-15. Nearby are two young married couples, William Mixon and his wife, with a son under age 5, and Edward Mixon and his wife with no children. Sarah must have died before 1840, for she is not shown in that census, and probably so, as the 1830 census gave her age as 50 - 59.   It is possible Jesse moved back to SC as there is a Jesse Mixon shown in SC in 1830 who later was shown with wife Catherine.

The Georgia Cherokee Land Lotter of 1832 lists
