Irvine Mixon, s. of William and Mary Eleanor Joyce Mixon, was b. ca. 1810, d. 1842 in Lawrence County, MS, m. (1) Mar 10, 1836 in Lawrence, MS to Mar 10, 1836 to Elizabeth Reeves, b. 1810.

3419 Alexander Mixon - b. 1840, Confederate soldier, slain by the enemy at the Battle of Chancellorsville. A Christian Gentleman, he led his unit in a prayer service before each battle. Flag bearer, he planted his colors on the Union redoubts at Chancellorsville, waved his hat to his companion and yelled, “Come on, let's put our hearts and souls into it.”

Simeon Penn Mixson, s. of William and Mary Eleanor Joyce Mixon was b, in SC, Feb 2, 1809, had moved with his parents to the "Mobile District", Mississippi Territory, in his early days. Died at Bruceville, TX, Mar 13, 1864.

 

Related to the John Mixson family in Dallas County, it was probably there he met his future wife, Margaret Ophelia Campbell, b. Sep 15, 1816, d. Jun 23, 1855. She was the dau. of William and Mary Campbell, residents of Dallas County, AL, she later outliving her husband by several years. Mrs. Campbell made some deeds gifts to her children before her death -- one of which was to her daughter Margaret, wife of Simeon Mixson, residents of TX, Aug21, 1839, to some skives. The 1850 census of TX shows the Mixsons in Milam County, the 1860 census in McClenrnan County.

Simeon Mixson was a member of the TX Rangers, discharged from same in Sep, 1837. A certified copy of this is now in hands of one of his descendants.

 

After Mr. Mixson's death, his widow married J. F. Mayfield, Feb 28, 1868.
