Subject: Catching up
Now that I am getting settled in my new job and my email address is
fixed I hope to keep up better with my writing. I will be busier at my
new job but should be able to at least get off a message at lunch time.
It looks like I will spending my lunch alone much like you. It is
something I miss for at my last job all the techie guys would sit at the
same table in the cafeteria and we would have some interesting
discussions. It is crazy that they don't allow email use at the library
but do allow internet use. I don't really see the difference.
Sometimes I can't tell if you just make a typo or if you are making
humor. You mentioned a neat "interest sight" instead of "internet site",
interesting twist on words. Yes I have taken the Myers-Briggs test and I
believe I also was an TNT but I will have to check. I would like the URL
I have not seen Boogie Nights but it does sound interesting. I'll check
to see if it is showing up here. A lot of the more non-mainstream movies
play in theaters downtown which makes them somewhat inconvenient to get
to.
I remember the X-Files episode about the guy with the tail and how he
could shape shift. What I found most interesting about that episode is
that Scully almost fell for the fake Fox as if she has had some secret
or subconscious desire for him.
I really love the big old pipe organs and always liked Toccata and Fugue
in G minor as played by Howard E. Briggs.[1]
Something about the setting in big old churches with all the acoustics
adds to the feeling. I have been to several concerts at the National
Cathedral and they were great. Playing Bach is one of my goals in
playing the piano. If I ever get good enough to play Jesu Joy of Man's
Desiring I'll record it and send it to you in an email (does your system
have a sound card?).
Well enough for now. I am taking the metro downtown to a big Federal
Computer show at the Washington convention center. I hope to get out
early afternoon and go down to the tidal basin and see the cherry
blossoms as they are now in full bloom. It is a beautiful sunny day and
is expected to get up into the upper 50's so it should be nice. It is
supposed to get in the upper 70's Thursday though Saturday, I find it
hard to believe but it will be great, Spring has arrived.
[1] I have a record of E.
Power Biggs playing Toccata and Fugue in G minor. For many years I have
played it at Halloween as kids came by trick-or-treating. Back when we
were “together” Elizabeth had turned me onto classical music, (see
story) and then told me about the University’s campus bookstore
having a discount record sale which they had all sorts of classical
music records. The E. Biggs record was one of the many ones I bought.
At a dollar I bought all sorts of classical music from Bach to
Tchaikovsky, and stranger things like Gregorian Chants.
Work got my name fixed, yeah!
