Subject: Good Morning
I don't think I have August's Wired yet--I guess it's about time to
swing by the bookstore and get it. I haven't done a subscription
yet because I need to get through this school financial crunch. I've
listened to much talk about the year 2000 problem. I saw one t.v.
show about a prominent person who has taken it very seriously and has
practically set himself up to be a survivalist, with supplies, an energy
source, etc., because he hypothesizes, for example that chain reaction
black outs could occur among power grids, etc., and that cities could
turn into death traps--he has moved into the country somewhere. I
truthfully don't give it much thought. Because of dangerous
weather here in AL I try to keep small supplies of batteries, water, and
food--but it's probably only a few day's worth. As I've said many times,
I find myself "wishing" I understood more how computers really work.
There's some neat stuff in that novel I recommended yesterday.
Well--perhaps I'll write more later, my mind is wandering to the fact
that I could look at some notes for Con Law while it's quiet. I
questioned the 100 book list too--although I liked the fact that Gore
Vidal was on the selection comm. None of his books made it though.
